Lecture on the Marquis de la Fayette by Bill Riski
February 10 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Marquis de la Fayette said, “The moment I heard of America, I loved her; the moment I knew she was fighting for freedom, I burnt with a desire of bleeding for her.”
This March, the Beaufort community will celebrate the 200th anniversary of his visit to Beaufort during his grand tour of the United States.
In this lecture, I will introduce you to Gilbert du Motier de La Fayette and create a portrait of him and his family to help you better understand why he is often called the Hero of Two Worlds despite his flaws.
This lecture is exclusively for DHF members.
We are hosting two identical sessions on the afternoon of February 10 to accommodate as many people as possible in our History & Learning Center.
To reserve a spot, please email Diane Roney at ladydi550two@gmail.com and let her know if you prefer to attend the 1:00 pm or 3:00 pm session.
