Tour Information

Welcome to Dataw Island, where history comes to life! We invite you to join us for guided tours led by our knowledgeable docents. They are proud residents deeply rooted in the island’s rich history. As Dataw Island is a gated community, guided tours are perfect for non-residents to explore and learn about our fascinating past. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK — AHEAD OF TIME.

The Sams Plantation Complex Tabby Ruins, a cherished site in the National Register of Historic Places, highlights our island’s history. Immerse yourself in the stories of yesteryears as you discover the remarkably intact ruins, which showcase standing walls, chimneys, and tabby foundations. The main house, kitchen, icehouse, well, and cemetery wall are among the ruins, offering a glimpse into the island’s storied past.
